It connects AI to governed, trusted data across existing systems, gives models the context to understand what that data means, and controls what agents can see and do. It enables sovereign AI without forcing businesses to move their data, rebuild their systems or surrender control to the model provider.","whyWeInvested":"Palantir proved enterprises will pay millions a year for an ontology with engineers attached. That's a very good business and a very closed one. Orbital does the same job with the ontology held in the open and the runtime doing the delivery, which means customers keep control of their own model and partners can build on top of it.\n\nWe think integration is about to become the binding constraint on enterprise AI. Every agent programme runs into the same wall: the data exists, it just can't be reached quickly or safely enough to be useful. Orbital sits exactly at that wall.","mission":"To make enterprise data usable by anyone and anything that asks for it, by giving every organisation an open model of its own business.","founders":"Marty Pitt, John Hammant","logoSvg":"<svg xmlns=\"http://www.w3.org/2000/svg\" viewBox=\"18.922 18.922 100 23.69\" width=\"100\" height=\"23.69\" aria-label=\"Orbital\">\n <title>Orbital</title>\n <path d=\"M28.428 23.66c-5.234 0 -9.476 4.243 -9.476 9.476s4.242 9.476 9.476 9.476 9.476 -4.242 9.476 -9.476 -4.242 -9.476 -9.476 -9.476m0 16.109c-3.658 0 -6.633 -2.975 -6.633 -6.633s2.975 -6.633 6.633 -6.633 6.633 2.975 6.633 6.633 -2.975 6.633 -6.633 6.633m15.635 -12.492v-3.618h-2.842v18.951h2.842v-8.001c0 -4.441 3.614 -8.054 8.054 -8.054v-2.842c-3.188 0 -6.06 1.376 -8.054 3.565m20.823 -3.617c-2.599 0 -4.953 1.046 -6.665 2.741v-7.478h-2.842v14.214h0.032c0 5.234 4.242 9.476 9.476 9.476s9.476 -4.242 9.476 -9.476 -4.242 -9.476 -9.476 -9.476Zm0 16.109c-3.658 0 -6.633 -2.975 -6.633 -6.633s2.975 -6.633 6.633 -6.633 6.633 2.975 6.633 6.633 -2.975 6.633 -6.633 6.633m12.77 -16.109h2.842v18.951h-2.842Zm-0.092 -4.738h3.028v3.028h-3.028Zm11.467 0h-2.842v4.768h-2.354v2.842h2.354v10.882h0.015c0 2.865 2.331 5.196 5.196 5.196v-2.842c-1.298 0 -2.354 -1.057 -2.354 -2.354h-0.015v-10.882h2.369v-2.842h-2.369zm14.255 4.738c-5.234 0 -9.476 4.243 -9.476 9.476s4.242 9.476 9.476 9.476c2.583 0 4.924 -1.034 6.633 -2.709v2.74h2.842v-9.506c0 -5.234 -4.242 -9.476 -9.476 -9.476m0 16.109c-3.658 0 -6.633 -2.975 -6.633 -6.633s2.975 -6.633 6.633 -6.633 6.633 2.975 6.633 6.633 -2.975 6.633 -6.633 6.633m12.793 -20.847h2.842v23.69h-2.842Z\" fill=\"white\"/>\n </svg>","featuredImage":"/media/file/1787348963392-440355140.png","status":"active","dateFounded":"2024","yearInvolved":"2026","websiteUrl":"https://orbitalhq.com/","linkedinUrl":"https://www.linkedin.com/company/orbitalhq","instagramUrl":null,"facebookUrl":null,"twitterUrl":"https://twitter.com/orbitalapi","categories":["AI & Data","Enterprise Platforms"],"exitedDate":"","exitedTo":"","brandColor":"#E7551E","brandColorSecondary":"#cc4514","investmentRole":"Investor","sortOrder":21,"metaTitle":"Orbital: Open Ontology for Enterprise Data & AI | BIG Ideas Group","metaDescription":"Discover Orbital, the open ontology layer simplifying enterprise data integration for AI.
